Baptist & Reflector

Several weeks ago Lonnie Wilkey of the Baptist & Reflector came to visit Kristi and I at our church. Lonnie is the editor of this weekly southern baptist newspaper. This goes out to thousands of people around TN and who knows how many more people on the internet. We have been reading this paper for several years now. We're blessed that Lonnie came to Belmont Heights to interview us and share with you our story of moving to New York City. Feel free to contact us!

Update: How you can help

We just want to thank you guys for praying for us. We ask that you continue to do so. We're about 95% sure we've landed a place in New York City! We're just waiting on the lease now! Many of you have asked about how you can give to us.

Two weeks ago we were approved through the North American Mission Board (NAMB) as missionaries!! We're going through the program called Mission Service Corps. We will be self-funded. For individuals wishing to give money, you can do so through NAMB. NAMB will keep a record of your giving and will send year end statements for your record keeping.

Please make your checks payable to: NAMB and make sure to put #9877 in the MEMO

You can leave those on this blog or you can send us emails at Kabeman606@aol.com or kbreeden21@gmail.com We'd love to hear from you guys!

How You Can Pray Now

As you are aware we’re moving to New York City. Specifically, we’re wanting to move to Bay Ridge since that’s the area we will be ministering in. We’re actually 10 days from leaving Knoxville and 11 days from moving into the city. Our plan is to leave Knoxville on Sunday the 26th and stay outside the city and then move in early Monday.

We’ve been working with a realtor for about 2-3 weeks. We’ve tried to get one place for it to fall through and we put an application in on another one a week ago, only to be turned down yesterday. So, we’re asking that you pray that God would provide a place for us to live in Bay Ridge. We know ultimately that God has the place picked out. We are 11 days away with no place to live at this point. So, prayer warriors…start praying with us!

Love you guys!

Open Letter to Belmont Heights Baptist Church

Open Letter to Belmont Heights Baptist Church:

Josh asked me what I wanted to share with the congregation. As you can imagine this is a very emotional time for me. I wanted to share so much but you wouldn't have made out very much. SO, here is what I want to say to you.

You are a special place. From the moment I snuck into your service several years ago, and unknown, you greeted me with love. I had many people reach out to me on my first visit. I wanted to say "I'm your next youth pastor"…but I couldn't. Even from my first visit, I noticed how loving this church was and is today. I'm so thankful that you welcomed me in. You have allowed me to do ministry. You didn't put any restrictions on me. You allowed me to serve.

I'll carry some incredible memories with me. For instance, Beef Jerky runs on the way to Iowa, calling timeout in Church League softball on second base, taking the students to the Lost Sea to spend the night in a cave (DUMB IDEA), Hearts on Fire trips, Florida trip, Poland (twice), bowling, SnowBird, Camp Ba Yo Ca, Fellowships, prayer service, Fusion, Hangin' at the Lethgos…Arnie's and Barry's, leading worship in Poland, BHBC, and Iowa and so many more memories.

Through Belmont, i met my wife!!! I came here to serve and left married! Its been great to serve along side a great pastor. I believe Belmont is heading in the right direction.

Students: you are being left in some very capable hands. These leaders love you guys. They want to see you succeed just like Kristi and I do. Put the Lord first, and you WILL succeed. Love these youth workers because they are serving because they care about you. We may not be there every week like you/we are used to but we're still very much apart of Belmont. You are our home church. Your successes are our successes and vice versa. We want to hear from you. Please call, text, email, or whatever so we can be in touch!

Its been an honor to serve this church. We look forward to sharing with you what God is doing in our lives and in New York City and we look forward to seeing you…hopefully soon.
